About FernlineBroadmeadow, since 2014

Who'll be in your backyard, and what to expect

A small team from a yard in Broadmeadow, building gardens across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. Here's who turns up, what happens on the day, and what you can hold us to.

Since 2014

Your garden is drawn and built by the same people

Most landscaping goes wrong in the gap between a designer's plan and a builder's guess. The levels don't quite work, the drain ends up in the wrong place, the plants on the drawing don't suit the soil. So we closed the gap: whoever draws your garden is on site while it's built.

That's how it's been since 2014, from one yard in Broadmeadow. 386 gardens later, most of them on Newcastle's slopes, clay and salt air, it's still the reason people ring us back for the next job.

What you can expect

Six things you can hold us to on every job, from one wall to the whole block.

  • One person from start to finish

The person who walks your block at the site visit draws the plan and runs the build. You never have to explain your garden twice.

  • A drawing before anyone digs

You see the walls, the levels, the paving and every plant on a scaled plan, and you change it until it's right. Then we price exactly that.

  • A price that doesn't move

Your quote is fixed and itemised. If something unexpected turns up in the ground, we stop and talk to you before anything changes.

  • Water sorted first

Every job starts with where the rain goes. Drains, ag pipe and falls go in before the paving and the lawn, so the yard holds up in a summer storm.

  • A clean site every afternoon

Tools packed, paths swept, the driveway clear by knock-off. You can still use your house while your garden is being built.

  • We come back

After the first big storm we check the drainage is doing its job, and your written workmanship warranty covers what we built.

About us: your questions

Who will actually be working at my place?

Our own crew, not a rotating set of subcontractors. The same small team builds the walls, lays the paving and does the planting, led by the person who drew your plan. If a job needs a specialist, like an engineer for a tall wall or a licensed plumber for a stormwater connection, we tell you who and why before they come.

How long have you been landscaping in Newcastle?

Since 2014, from the same yard in Broadmeadow. In that time we've built 386 gardens across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, most of them on sloping blocks, clay soil or salty coastal ground.

Are you licensed and insured?

Fernline Landscapes holds a NSW contractor licence for structural landscaping, and the number is on every page of this site and every quote. Ask us for a copy of our insurance certificates at the site visit and we'll send them with your quote.

Do you do small jobs?

Yes. A single wall, a patio or a new lawn is a good way to find out how we work. The site visit is free whatever the size of the job.

What happens after the garden is finished?

We walk through it with you, leave a care sheet for the first summer, and come back after the first big storm to check the drainage. If anything we built isn't right, ring us: your workmanship warranty is in writing.

Can I see a garden you've built?

This site is a demo, so the projects on it are samples. A real landscaper's site would show its own finished gardens here, with the suburb and the job, and could arrange for you to see one in person.

Send us your garden

A few photos and a rough idea is enough. We'll ring to book a free site visit, then send a fixed quote with a drawing.
